John DeFrancesco became the 87th Veteran of the 384th Bomb Group to sign the wing panel on 25 January 2014 in Ocala, Florida, at the Ocala-Marion County Veterans Memorial Park.

DeFrancesco was a B-17 Pilot with the 544th Bombardment Squadron. He joined the 384th with his crew in September 1944, and flew combat missions until January 1945. On his 35th combat mission - which would have completed his combat tour - he was shot down and taken POW. Near the end of the war, POWs at his camp were force-marched for about three weeks to another camp in southern Germany, where they stayed until the camp was liberated by General George Patton.

Panel host for this signing event was Fred Preller, with assistance from Sal Scalia. Cindy Bryan made local arrangements, and the staff of the Veterans Memorial Park provided accommodations.
