Joe Carnes became the 51st Veteran of the 384th Bomb Group to sign the wing panel on 18 October 2012, at the reunion in San Antonio, Texas..

Carnes, a pilot, was assigned to the 544th Bomb Squadron in July 1944 with his crew. He flew 30 combat missions before being transferred out of the 384th in March 1945.
