Hi Ted:
Finally found out that Eldo [Cpl. Eldo Palmer] had your address and decided to drop you a line or two. Returned from a three day pass in England last night, spent it in Northampton as usual.
I’ll bet you would like to know how the crew is making out here, well first of all the base looks good now, as we have pre-fabricated barracks etc. [S/Sgt. Charles] Taylor was suppose to be on his way home last week, but orders were held up, looks like he may wait for some time, as we may get a chance to go home after all.
Lieut [Oscar] Pierce, [Albert] Espery and [Richard] Claflin are still around as for Eldo he hasn’t changed much. Bob [Robert] Neubauer well there isn’t much, except that he died a few weeks ago, he had a accident in Palavas while on pass, fell out of a fourth story window, and died the following day. Rather tough but things like that happen.
By the way are you still in the Army or had been released? We heard rumors that some of the gunners that shipped back to the States got their releases, and I was wondering if you were one of the lucky boys.
The latest of here is that only five crews from our sqdn are going to go occupational, and these will be with the least amount of missions.
