Chapin(?) Paintings

Is this "our" Chapin?

Mary Jane Najmola writes:

"I am trying to research some World War II paintings that were part of my father’s cherished aviation collection. The paintings are signed Robert Chapin (One is signed Robert Chapin - ETO). Upon researching the name, I found two in your group. The paintings are B-17’s with [Triangle] P insignia on the tail of the plane. Do you have anyway to find out if either man was involved in the ETO, or had an interest in art? Any additional information would be helpful.

"There are two additional paintings from the same time period. The artist is foreign and I can not decipher the signature. The one painting is titled “Dans le coton” Le Groupe de bombardment before or below the Petritch… I believe the aircraft is French. Any additional information regarding the mission would be helpful.

"We may be donating some of the paintings to the Boeing Museum in Seattle. My father was on of eight children all four boys served in the 40 and 50’s. My father was also employed by Boeing in the 50’s. I believe they have historical value and we would like to see them exhibited for all veterans to enjoy."
